I see you
Sitting across from me
Awkwardly smiling out at this space
You find yourself in.
It is your space.
You are familiar with it shapes
And rhythms. Yet my presence–
Throws you off.
Do not worry.
I am here, as a friend,
now.
Not to disturb what you have.
There is nothing but…
kindness
and gentleness, to give
to you.
From across the table
I pass you, fresh water and
A tender smile:
Filled with memories
Past. No longer of a
Present moment.
Our touch will Spark
The memory; and
And it will
Dissipate–
Through the ions,
Into the wood.
And the sounds of laughter
Will resound Around us.
